They sure do!
The winter solstice was always celebrated by bringing in colour - so evergreens like fir trees, holly & Ivy.
It’s a pagan thing!
You’re right Kevin, they certainly do have pagan roots. But as you can read on the holly and ivy page - they were given Christian meanings.
